Rach

Rachel in Hebrew means sheep but I don’t think that the meaning of Rachel fits me. My name originally came from my Great Aunt who survived the Holocaust. If my name were to mean anything different I would think it would mean strong will because my Great Aunt physically and emotionally suffered in the Holocaust. I’m really memorized and appreciative that I’m named after my Great Aunt’s whose name was named after me. If my parents haven’t named me after my Great Aunt Rachel my name would have been Jordana, which happens to be my middle name. My name was passed down to me because also the origin of the name Rachel is Hebrew. Rachel also is named after the prophet Rachel who was married to Jacob, which comes from its origin. I’m glad my parents named me Rachel because I’m named after someone who was strong and had enough courage to be lucky enough to survive such a tragic time in history.

CIT General

My dream is to be camper general. I’ve been looking forward to be CIT general for the past six years that I’ve gone to camp. I’ve been

waiting so long that its feels like I’ve been waiting a million years for this moment. As color war break out approaches, I keep on feeling

the anticipation building up it feels as if my heart is going to burst out of my chest. I’ve always looked up to the older girls and boys who
use another word besides feel ^^ it is used twice.
were picked because its one of the greatest accomplishments to be picked as a general. Being a general means your leading your team

to victory through out color war. Color war is one of the most competitive parts of camp where the camp is split up into two different

teams red and white. If I were to be camper general I would be ecstatic. If I got camper general I think I would scream and my face

would light up like a little kid walking through a candy store. It would make feel very responsible and respected by new position.

Pontiac My Second Home

My favorite place in the entire world where I wish I could stay forever is camp. I spend two months out of the entire year with my camp friends living in a bunk and experiencing what it feels like living on your own. Pontiac is what I call my second home, which in the summer I stay for seven weeks. Camp is not only just being with the people I like to be around but it’s also the amazing experience of going to and to making new friends. I remember my first day at camp where I was surrounded by all new people and didn’t know anyone besides my sisters. It was scary not knowing my surroundings but after awhile you make friends and it becomes the greatest experience of a lifetime and I would never regret going to camp. If I could relive the camp over again I would do it in a heartbeat because it’s my favorite place where I love to be.

A Friend Far, Far Away

Someone I know well would be my best friend Niki. I know mostly everything about her and she knows everything about me. Its almost like were the same person. Even though I don’t get to see her all the time and she lives far away we speak everyday and she’s always there for me. That’s what I love most about my best friend; she’s always there for me no matter what. If it means having problems at home or with friends she’s always there and who can help me with my problems. She’s not only like a best friend to me but I can consider her as family because we’ve grown so close over the past couple years. I remember when I first met her and we first hated each other. But then as we got older we grew closer and became best friends, and I will always be a best friend with her because I know she’s always going to be there for me.

33rd & 4th Street

Where I live half the time is in New York City. The neighborhood always has life and everyone is always up and moving. When people say, “the city never sleeps” it’s true because there’s never a moment of silence. There’s something that’s always going on and I like that because there’s never a dull moment. I love living in the city because it’s right in the middle of all the action, which is right next Time Square. There’s always a concert going on or a million people a day who walk the streets and who pass down my apartment building. It’s extremely loud a night but its almost the opposite effect what you think it be but its almost relaxing. Falling asleep to cars passing by and people talking is relaxing and it’s not as hard to fall asleep. Living on 4th and 33rd street is different from what you would expect it to be.

Grandpa

Someone I don’t know so well would be my grandpa. I knew him my whole life but as I got older our relationship started to drift away slowly once he was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. He was not only a Holocaust survivor but he managed to escape one of the biggest concentration camps known in Germany called Auschwitz. Even though he died this year I’m still proud to say that I love my grandpa and that I’m apart of his family. He was very encouraging spreading his story across the United States going to high schools and colleges telling his story expressing the way he lived poorly and made it to America on his own by the age of ten. I love my grandpa and I wish I could say we were close, and it hurts knowing we weren’t as I grew up. I wish I knew you better grandpa. I miss you.

Big Beautiful Bold

One of my favorite possessions that I just received was a ring that my mom made me for my sixteenth birthday. I was so ecstatic when I opened the small brown box and unwrapped the bow around it. It was beautiful. I was speechless and I didn’t even know what to do because it means so much to me that my mom made me a ring. I consider it one of my prized possessions because it means a lot to me, because my mom is passing it down to me and then one day when I’m older I’m going to pass it down to my children. The ring is beautiful and I love flashing it whenever I wear it when the diamonds sparkle. I want this ring to be in my family forever passing it down to generation to generation to symbolize family. Family means the most to me and this ring means and I will always wear it because it signifies that.

Perfect Day

A good day would be going to the beach. I love being in warm weather and tanning being right next to the ocean. The ocean is so relaxing to listen to and especially when you’re sitting there in hot sun. I love the boardwalk where I go down the beach because it has the best shopping. The beach is my favorite place to be and when the weather is warm its what I look forward going to do. A good day is not only tanning but also going in the ocean and going on jet skis. Jet skis is the best part of the day when you’re going through waves and hitting against the water it’s such a thrill. Walking down the beach and getting tan is what I look forward to when I go down to the beach. I love the beach and it’s my favorite place to be during the summer.

Carly & Emma

Carly and Emma my cousins are probably the craziest cousins you’ll ever meet. The first time I babysat I will never forget it. It was like a tornado had taken over the house. Games and toys were everywhere Carly was crying because Emma took away her favorite toy because Carly was annoying her. When Carly cries it sounds like someone’s dying loud and piercing like nails against the chalkboard. It’s continuously until she gets what she wants. I will never forget the image was so clearly like it was like almost yesterday when Emma had a lotion kit where you can make you own lotion and it was going everywhere. The mix was spilling all over and off the counter and Carly was playing in the sink with the water. Then they were running around the house dancing to music. Finally I got them to calm down and put them to bed they fell asleep so fast and it was so quiet that it you can even hear a pin drop.
